Zillow Research Uncovers Keywords That Help Sell Your Home Faster
Whether you’re selling your home on your own or using a real estate agent, the listing description can make all the difference in attracting buyers and getting top dollar for your property. New research from Zillow Digs has uncovered the most coveted amenities and features, which will help sell your home 30 days faster than the average seller, as well as for an average 13 percent higher purchase price.
Using listing data collected from more than 2 million homes sold across the country, Zillow traced the commonalities between the most successful listing descriptions. What they discovered were five keywords that today’s buyers are most likely to respond to.
Do you have a “barn door” in your home? If so, be sure to include it in your home’s description. These rustic doors, often used on closets and kitchen pantries, will earn you an offer 57 days sooner than homes that don’t mention barn doors, and with a 13 percent higher purchase price to boot.
Kitchens offering “Shaker cabinets” are a boon for sellers, as well. Zillow’s study showed a nearly 10 percent increase in purchase prices for homes with this feature, and they sold 45 days faster than average.
The “farmhouse sink” craze continues, as buyers seems to be falling head over heels for these trendy yet functional pieces. According to Zillow, they can bring as much as an 8 percent premium for sellers.
If your home features “subway tiles” in the kitchen or bathroom, be sure to include this amenity in your home listing. Research indicates that these classic tiles will help you sell your home a whopping 63 days faster, and with a 7 percent greater purchase price.
Finally, in a sign that the granite countertop trend is waning, Zillow’s research showed a 6 percent premium for “quartz countertops” in today’s market.
Whether or not your home features any of the most coveted amenities, it pays – sometimes literally – to craft your home’s listing description carefully.
